ARE YOUR CRITERIA REALISTIC and IN YOUR BEST INTEREST IN MATCHMAKING SERVICES?

I have 2 male clients who turn down everyone who selects to meet them by saying they aren’t good looking enough. I know that one of them is comparing everyone against his ex-wife (who cheated on him and left him). I always say, this is a matchmaking service, not a modeling agency. I recently presented a new woman to him who would have been a perfect match, but, of course, he declined based on looks.

Recently a woman called for Bon Jour Matchmaking and her height requirement was unrealistic. She only wanted to meet men 6’2″ to 6’4″! Not every guy will fall into that category, and she is missing out on great guys under 6’2″! Although I have clients in that range, there surely will be other criteria that may exclude them. That was a deal breaker for her, so we chose not to work together.

Another woman who has used many of the Dating Apps and internet dating sites phoned and one of her main criteria was that because she earns a very high salary, her minimum income requirement for the men was $500,000 a year. This was based primarily on her ex-husband who earned less and felt emasculated because of that. Again, eliminating great guys even minimally under that salary.

If you are deciding to utilize a professional matchmaking service, you should take a good look at what’s important in a long-term marriage/relationship. Ask your friends or your parents who have been married for many years what they think are the most important criteria. To come in with criteria that is purely superficial even though I have clients who fit in those categories, is not the big picture.

I agree things should be reasonably equal with income for many reasons and I have clients who fit her criteria but would not be a fit for other reasons. This woman had many criteria that could eliminate a very good potential match. Even when searching for a home, you generally don’t get everything you want, you have to focus on what’s most important.
