Since the show “Ready For Love” started I’ve had a spike in calls from single Denver men interested in Bon Jour Matchmaking Service.  A couple of the men explained that they looked up Kelleher International since one of the Matchmakers on the show is Kelleher and they had so many bad reviews he wouldn’t consider them.  Another, also speaking of Kelleher, said that he had a close friend who worked for them briefly and according to his friend they stick it to the men for thousands of dollars and just throw women at them not at all matching them up for thousands of dollars.

So another episode aired last night and one thing I have in common with the Matchmakers is that even when I give advice to certain clients that I know will serve them well they have not taken it.  Thus undermining a potentially successful relationship.  Remember, I…

First of all, remember I’ve been matchmaking for 34 years so I have a lot of history to draw from. When I share info about singles who call me and either become clients or not, I am referring strictly to MY clientele NOT the whole world.

Over these many years I have gotten calls from men 55+ who are dead set on only meeting women 35-45. Of course, it varies depending on the person but usually 15-20 years younger or more. I choose not to work with those men in that my clients in that age range are only interested in age-appropriate men. Not a judgment call on my part merely the facts about my female clients. That scenario has been going on for years.

BUT in the past about 3 years I have been getting calls from women 55+ who say they’ve been dating men 10 and 15 years…

I am REALLY good at assessing whether I can work with someone, their maturity and their stability. But, thank goodness only once in a great while someone slips through who I find is impossible to work with. In this case I can see looking back that if I had declined to work with her she would still have written an equally nasty review…no way to win for me.

For some reason when singles consider working with a matchmaker or joining a local Denver matchmaking service their expectations are almost totally unrealistic.  Do you use the stock market?  It goes up and down and is never a sure thing.  Neither is investing in real estate as we saw in the last few years.  You join fitness clubs and don’t lose weight or get in shape.  And the list goes on…

But when people hire matchmakers they expect a guarantee.  Why is that?  You are usually considering this because other avenues have not worked.  They didn’t give you a guarantee and didn’t work.  Neither can a matchmaker.  You come with your own criteria, preferences and baggage.  Those three things totally effect your success or failure.  They are yours so you need to own them and not blame Denver dating or matchmaking services for your lack of success.

A gentleman joined Bon Jour Matchmaking a year ago in August.  He selectively met a couple of women who appealed to him.  Then for several months he met a woman he dated for a while.  A few months ago a new woman joined Bon Jour who also met a couple of men.  Much of her time has been spent going back and forth out-of-town taking care of her mother in between those matches.

Upon her return about a month ago I matched these two clients and wallah, they are a great match with both seeing long-term potential!  If either had been on a limited contract they probably would not have met.  This scenario has happened countless times through the years with clients of Bon Jour Matchmaking Service all due to the open-ended contract!  They are now engaged as of 2015!  They’ve been married since 2015!

Recently I’ve had the experience with several new clients when they initially called asking what an “open-ended contract” meant.  Other Denver matchmaking services may refer to it as a “Lifetime Contract” or a “Platinum Package” and charge you a lot extra to have that benefit.  EVERY client of Bon Jour has an open-ended contract!  That’s the way it should be if you are a REAL matchmaker.  You never know when that right person will appear and you want to be there when they do!  The longest so far that I’ve worked with a client is 11 years and she DID get married in that 11th year to a man who became a widower the year before and joined my service after that…see, you never know when…

My feeling is that calling it a Lifetime Contract or package is kind of depressing.  Also that is not what I mean by open-ended.
